In my practice, I've had the privilege of working with adults like yourself, seeking support for navigating the intricate landscape of symptoms associated with Depression, Anxiety, Complex PTSD, relational trauma, Bipolar disorder, or grief and loss.
I understand that you may be wrestling with a multitude of thoughts and feelings—feeling trapped, overwhelmed, numb, guilty, angry, hypervigilant, scared, empty, stuck, unworthy, detached, indecisive, not good enough, ashamed, on edge, sheepish, irritated, sad, unmotivated, confused, or even sensing an inability to effectively manage life's challenges. Rest assured, I'm here to support you in your journey of toward peace of mind.
To help guide you on this journey, I employ the biosocial model, which considers the interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding human behavior and mental health. Through a blend of typical third-wave cognitive behavior modalities, experiential, and affective neuroscience approaches, and/or skill-building techniques, we'll collaboratively work to dismantle emotional barriers, paving the way for a richer and more fulfilling life, and ultimately, peace of mind.
One group of treatment modalities I utilize falls under the umbrella of third-wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioral Activation, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Metacognitive Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and Schema Therapy. These approaches focus on enhancing self-awareness, fostering acceptance, and promoting behavioral change.
Additionally, I integrate Affective Neuroscience approaches, such as Somatic Therapy and Polyvagal Theory approaches., which emphasize the connection between mind and body in healing. I pull from Interpersonal Neurobiology, which focuses on the interaction of interpersonal attachment and the brain by drawing from concepts of cognitive and affective neurobiology, developmental psychology, and psychodynamic understandings.
Building from neuroscience research and frameworks from affective neuroscience theories, I expanded my repertoire to include emotion-based approaches. These include Emotion-Focused Therapy and other existential modalities, such as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Coherence Therapy, and Brainspotting, which delve into the depths of emotional experience to promote insight and transformation.
Another group involves skill-building techniques designed to equip individuals with practical tools and skills – ranging from emotional regulation to problem-solving - to more effectively cope with life's challenges.
Lastly, my therapeutic repertoire can also include the experiential modality of Animal-Assisted Therapy, which utilizes the bond between humans and animals to facilitate emotional growth and healing. (This modality is used when specially requested.)
