  • RE: Midlife Change

Midlife can bring more than one transition at a time

The Midlife Bridge may be helpful if:

  •  Several life changes are happening at once.
  • You feel caught between caring for others and attending to yourself.
  • Changes in health, energy, or physical capacity have affected your identity.
  • You are rethinking work, relationships, family roles, or purpose.
  • You feel unlike yourself but cannot fully explain why.
  • Old trauma, grief, or relational patterns have resurfaced.
  • Perimenopause or menopause has intensified mood, sleep, concentration, or relationship concerns.
  • You feel between the life you have known and whatever comes next.

How the BRIDGE Framework supports midlife change

During midlife, the BRIDGE Framework helps us make sense of overlapping concerns without treating every difficulty as a separate problem.

We begin with what is happening now, develop greater steadiness, explore what may be maintaining the difficulty, clarify what matters in this chapter, generate realistic possibilities, and learn from gradual changes in everyday life.

The work can include practical problem-solving, emotional processing, relationship and boundary work, grief, identity exploration, trauma-informed treatment, or a combination of these approaches.
