Therapy for Midlife Transitions

Specialized individual therapy for women and men navigating the many transitions of midlife

Midlife can bring several changes at once—within relationships, health, family responsibilities, work, identity, and your sense of direction.

For some people, this period brings an unexpected question:

The life I've built got me here—but what do I want the next part of my life to look like?

Therapy provides space to understand what is changing, what may no longer be working, and what you want to carry forward—or do differently—as you move into the next chapter.

Does this resonate with you?

Marriage, intimacy, separation or divorce, dating again, friendships and changing relationship needs.

Children becoming more independent, empty nesting, aging parents, caregiving and changing family roles.

Burnout, career change, retirement questions, professional identity, or achievement that no longer feels as fulfilling.

Health changes, chronic illness, physical capacity, sexuality, body image and adapting to aging. Give customers a reason to do business with you.

Changes in roles, priorities, confidence, values and the question of who you are now.

Questions about time, regret, unrealized goals, purpose and how you want to live the next part of your life.

HOW THERAPY MAY HELP

HOW THERAPY MAY HELP

The BRIDGE Framework helps organize our work. We begin with what is happening now, develop greater steadiness, explore what may be maintaining the difficulty, clarify what matters in this chapter, generate realistic possibilities, and learn from gradual changes in everyday life.

The work can include practical problem-solving, emotional processing, relationship and boundary work, grief, identity exploration, trauma-informed treatment, or a combination of these approaches.

For women navigating perimenopause or menopause

For some women, the emotional and cognitive changes of midlife are closely connected with perimenopause or menopause. If changes in mood, sleep, concentration, energy, or emotional well-being are part of what brought you here, my Perimenopause & Menopause Mental Health specialty may be a better place to begin.
